Nina has spent the last decade covering news and events in the Las Vegas valley. She recently joined the Channel 13 Action News team to anchor the 6 and 11pm newscasts with Steve Wolford.
Nina's work has been recognized with several awards, including an Edward R. Murrow award for journalistic excellence for a series in which she went through real training at the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Academy. She also earned an Emmy for her work on Murder One, a story that took viewers behind the crime scene tape at the first murder of the year. She has been named Best Local News Anchor by Las Vegas Life Magazine and nominated several times for Best Anchor in the Electronic Media Awards.
Nina is most proud of her work with The Rape Crisis Center. As a member of their board of directors, she works to raise money and community awareness for victims of sexual assault. Since 2004, Nina has hosted an annual event called Nina's Night Out at The Palms Casino Resort. The event features a cocktail party and benefit concert designed to celebrate those who've survived a horrific crime. Since its inception, the event has brought in close to $500,000 for the Rape Crisis Center.
Carolyn's son, Mason, was born premature weighing only 2 lbs. Mason had several holes in his heart leaving the doctors with one solution: open heart surgery. He was in quarantine for 11 months as they waited for the surgery but by the grace of God and the amazing surgeons who performed the surgery, Mason is a vibrant 9 year old today. Both Carolyn and Mason have spoken in Washington D.C. about the need for funding and education about heart disease. They continue to be advocates in the Las Vegas community as the cure for heart disease and stroke is still being fought for.
